But resources are finite. And at our current pace and approach, no one wins.
Data Center Space simply cannot scale to keep pace with the incredible rate of progress in the age of AI. Insufficient and outdated Hardware requires more energy and more data center space to run. Energy demand for data centers competes with our everyday need to heat and cool homes and puts dangerous strain on infrastructures.
With no viable solution to our space and efficiency problems, our collective response has been to scale. In an effort to get the resources they need, companies resort to unsustainable measures, threatening progress towards a sustainable future by externalizing the cost of innovation.
This is not the way forward.
GenAI has the power to change us, but for our future to be a positive one, GenAI must: remain affordable and accessible, fit our existing energy infrastructures without competing for public supplies, and be economical yet accurate so that companies and individuals can build profitably and with confidence.
