Creating Space for New Ideas

At GoldieBlox, we are a multimedia company rewriting the script for young girls by empowering them with digital-first content and creative products that spark their imaginations. Our company aims to equip girls with the right tools to build their confidence and dreams so they can be the catalysts of change in any industry they choose.

We are also acutely aware that learning is no longer solely happening in a classroom — especially now, when distance learning is putting educational issues in the forefront and forcing a lot of families to get creative with schooling.

To that end, Goldieblox recently partnered with Toonz Media to develop a slate of STEM-inspired animation franchises for kids and families all over the world. This will be our first time venturing into animation and we’re so excited to create content that not only will inspire children but will also keep them engaged in STEM learning.

Partnership with Experience

Toonz is a 360-degree media powerhouse with over two decades of unparalleled experience and one of Asia’s most active animation production studios (over 10,000 minutes of 2D and CGI kids and family content per year). Toonz, having worked with many of the leading entertainment studios, channels and networks including Marvel, Nickelodeon, Disney, Netflix, Dreamworks, Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal, BBC, Amazon, Google, Hulu, and HBO has several animation and live action series, as well as feature films to its credit. We could not be more excited to work with them.

Obviously, animation is wildly popular with kids and we know that the toys and materials children are exposed to is crucial to their development. And while there are a ton of streaming options out there, we know we can distinguish our content from others, not only because of our brand recognition, but because we require the content to educate and contribute to society at large.

Embracing STEM

While diversity is becoming more and more prevalent in content for young people, we still have a ways to go in content being richer in learning. The biggest barrier – particularly for girls and children from low-income families – is early exposure, but companies like ours and Toonz Media have proven that the principles of engineering and science are expansive, not prohibitive.

We want kids to take risks, to embrace their own curiosity and to be confident in where their minds wander. We believe in imagination and want to foster it. We are at the forefront, creating a myriad of spaces to breed new ideas and hope this space for original animated content ignites a spark in science, technology, engineering and math – subjects that really can be fun for our youth. When multimedia companies like Goldieblox and Toonz combine their talents, the sky’s the limit. There is boundless potential to push America to the forefront of education and learning.
