Valentin, can you start off by telling us about yourself and why you chose technology and entrepreneurship?
I’m a serial entrepreneur. My third company was an eCommerce – at that moment I realized how fast you can scale if you’re selling bytes instead of actual physical products. Since then, I have started Omniconvert – we’ve been building tech products around eCommerce growth, customer centricity, and leveraging AI to reimagine how to better serve customers.
Can you tell us what drives you to be successful as a Technology Executive?
Curiosity and resilience. Ongoing experimentation towards exciting goals is what I do. I thrive on solving complex challenges, pushing boundaries, and constantly rethinking how to maximize the value I deliver in a rapidly changing landscape.
Tell us about your vision of your career in the next 2-3 years.
The landscape is changing massively in the sector that I am right now, around digital experimentation and data-driven growth. I aim to disrupt the eCommerce experimentation space by growing Omniconvert, and help even more businesses unlock sustainable growth.
What’s the one or two accomplishments that you’re proud of?
I’d say it’s building Omniconvert into a leading experimentation platform, and publishing The CLV Revolution – the book that provides the CVO framework for businesses to thrive by focusing on customer lifetime value. I’d say these are great achievements as also raised two kids with my wife, that are now almost grown-ups, and my toughest challenge, haha.
What advice do you have for other up-and-coming engineers or leaders?
Never stop experimenting, and never settle. Growth comes from testing assumptions, embracing failure as a teacher, giving up at the right moment and staying curious, without losing your faith.
Are you active on social media professionally? If so, what platforms work best for engaging your followers?
Yes. LinkedIn is my go-to platform for sharing insights, engaging with like-minded professionals, and learning from others.
Who was your biggest influence?
A pivotal moment in my career was when I had to unlearn what I thought I knew about customer behavior, thanks to my meeting with Bob Moesta, the pioneer behind the Jobs To Be Done method.
What is the most challenging part of your work as a Tech Executive?
I’d say saying no to new things, new projects. For me, it is very difficult to balance the long-term vision with the fast pace of daily operations, while keeping the team aligned and motivated.
What do you have your sights set on next?
I am very bullish on replacing the tedious & difficult parts from the CRO process with AI. That’s why I am continuing to expand Omniconvert’s impact—helping more companies adopt experimentation and making it more impactful, faster, with less resources.
What is a day in your life like?
It’s a mix of deep work, connecting with the team, and enough time to learn and adjust the vision – as I am a creative person with a ton of ideas, it helped a lot to adopt the EOS methodology to run the company.
Do you have any hobbies?
I love exploring new cultures and experiences through travel, reading, and cooking food with the people I love. Oh, and I play an ancient blowing instrument called tilinca in my walks through the forest with my dogs.
What makes you smile?
Realizing how stupid some of my decisions were after reading my journal. It is a great way to laugh at your old self.
What are you never without?
My curiosity. It’s the fuel for everything I do.
What scares you?
Failing to integrate AI in a healthy way for our future generations.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
I love Machu Picchu and Peru. I’ve been there 3 times and I think I’ll go again.
