During these early days of AI as it transitions from theory and concept to practical reality, we’re facing a new frontier. As adoption grows, internet consumers will need to act proactively to protect their privacy as regulators try to put in place proper regulation before the technology causes harm and irreversible implications for humanity. As artificial intelligence in general, which includes generative AI, gets further integrated into search and search results, there will be more and more data collected about users, and results will become more accurate and tailored to the individual. This is a massive challenge and opportunity. Expectations and laws surrounding the usage of this data are still nascent, and the current default is that big companies own the data used in search and chat.
