Brian Thomas: Well, good afternoon, Julie. Welcome to the show.

Julie Hruska: Thank you, Brian. I’m so happy to be here.

Brian Thomas: I am so happy you’re here as well. Love doing these podcasts every single day except for the weekends, but mostly just getting around the globe and talking to some great people like yourself. So, Julie, we’re going to jump right into these questions.

You’ve got quite the career in coaching communication. You were a TV host board member. Now you’re the CEO and Certified High Performance Coach of Powerful Leaders. Could you share with our audience the secret to your career growth and what inspires you?

Julie Hruska: Yes, so that’s a really great question. You know, I had a unique path.

I started an education and worked my way up and really necessity drove it. I became a single mother of three kids about a decade ago. And with that came the additional responsibility that my job as a teacher just did not quite cover the lifestyle that I wanted for me and my children. So, I made some shifts and.

Due to necessity and what I found is every step of the way, every time you’re climbing the ladder to your next level. It’s about clarity, consistency and commitment to excellence. It’s getting clear about who you are, how you’re showing up in the world and what your ideal vision for success is. And then being committed to that path.

So, you wake up each and every day, whether you feel like it or not, because you’re on a mission to succeed.

Brian Thomas: I love that. I love your story as well. Again, it gives hope and inspiration to those in our audience that have a similar background or can see where somebody, you know, went through challenges and adversity to get where they are today.

So, I appreciate the story. I really, really do. And Julie. You’ve coached some amazing people, leaders, over the years. What is the one thing that gets people stuck in a rut and what do you do to help them fix that?

Julie Hruska: Limiting beliefs, the idea that. Things aren’t possible. That fixed and scarcity mindset.

That’s what I find holds most people back. It usually comes from a childhood experience or somewhere along the way. We pick up a belief that isn’t true. Something, someone told us that we weren’t good enough. We weren’t capable. Things were not possible that we really wanted, and we allow that to hold us back.

And oftentimes it’s subconscious. So, what I help people do is identify those limiting beliefs. And once we identify them, we excavate them, we get rid of them. And then we reframe them to more affirming beliefs. And from there we strategize, and we take action to reframe those beliefs and create the life that people are working toward that they desire.

Brian Thomas: I love that. And I wish people would stop and take a breath, you know, and just be aware of what they’re thinking and things that may have, you know, limited their beliefs from a traumatic experience or, you know, a teacher or a parent or something like that in the future. So, go ahead.

Julie Hruska: It, it happens all the time and we just don’t realize it.

I was working with someone who’s in his fifties. And he has, he’s overweight and he’s having a lot of health issues and we realized that he started suppressing his emotions in high school by overeating. The food was his comfort. And so, all along the way, He continued to eat any time he was stressed or needed comfort.

And now, you know, he has a shunt in his heart and he’s having these other health issues. And it’s like, wow, you know, when you go all the way back to something that happened in high school. And that’s controlling your life in your fifties. Like when you realize that and you get rid of it, there’s so much freedom available to you.

And so it’s very exciting to be a part of that for people and help them realize that there’s something in their past, a subconscious belief. It’s not even true that once they get rid of, they are free to live the life they were created to live.

Brian Thomas: That’s awesome. Thank you. And I love the story. Again, it’s a success story, but it also just, just proof there that limiting beliefs do make people do things they wouldn’t ordinarily do.

So thank you. And Julie, we see coaches everywhere.

Julie Hruska: Oh my gosh. Yes. There are 1. 7 million coaches on LinkedIn right now. And what’s sad about it is that a lot of them are not. Trained or certified. A lot of them are making claims that are false, and it’s really not only harmful to the industry, but it’s really dangerous because people trust coaches to give them advice on their life.

And if you trust the wrong person, it can really have adverse effects.

Brian Thomas: Absolutely. And that’s, you get used. That was a perfect segue right into my question is, you know, there’s you know, maybe you could help our audience understand what a high-performance coach is, right? Because there’s so many that claim that on LinkedIn and why you’re different than most.

Julie Hruska: Yeah, absolutely. So, I’m a high-performance coach trained by the High Performance Institute. My official title from the high-performance Institute is certified high-performance coach. And the power of certified high-performance coaching is that its research based and data. Proven strategies, so I’m not winging it.

I’m not making things up. I’m using proven strategies and techniques to help people go from where they are to where they want to be and bridge that gap. So, what’s different about me is I have a master’s in education, curriculum and instruction, and I customize. Each person’s coaching experience meets their needs.

So, I have a background, not only in education and training and high performance, but also in mindfulness. So I combine those two things. The yen and the young energies to create a holistic program that addresses all the areas of life, career, relationships, health, and finance, because success isn’t just in 1 area of your life.

If you’re succeeding in your career, but your relationships are falling apart. Are you really successful or if your career and relationships are going well, but you’re deeply in debt, are you going to be happy? Are you going to be fulfilled? So, you really have to look at all of the areas of life and high performance is defined by succeeding beyond the standard norms over time, thriving in your career, relationships, health, and finances.

And that is so important for people to realize. That true success is being your best in all areas of your life.

Brian Thomas: I love that. And I’ve heard that before. When you start to fix every little aspect of your life, physically, mentally, spiritually nutritionally, all that stuff, it, it rounds it out. But the more that you have squared away in your life makes a huge difference and puts you on the path of success.

So, thank you. And Julie, last question of the day. We are a technology platform and publication. You’re probably leveraging some of that new and emerging technology in your business, but if you’re not, that’s okay. Is there a cool tool or app that maybe you found useful? You could share with us today.

Julie Hruska: Yeah, actually I’ve been dabbling a bit with AI, which is really fun.

I am, I enjoy seeing what the different technology is out there and I am definitely a dabbler, but what I’m exploring right now are some time-blocking apps. Because my clients do a lot with productivity, I help them become more efficient and effective, but they do it manually, you know, they’re getting on their calendar, they’re blocking time, they’re plugging in their priorities for the day.

So, I was just exploring, it’s I believe it’s called Monday. Monday[dot]com is a time blocking scheduling app. So, I was playing with that recently and I’m looking at the different ones. I would love suggestions. If you have any good ones for time blocking, because research shows that if you time block, you can increase your efficiency and effectiveness by 30%.

Brian Thomas: That’s awesome. And yes, we’ve highlighted hundreds of apps on this platform. And I think there’s some time blocking ones we talked about. I can’t recall at the top of my head, but there are a lot of productivity apps now infused with, you know, generative or conversational AI. Which is just awesome. And we’ve, that’s been really a hot topic over the last I would say several months here on this podcast, but I appreciate what you’re sharing and Julie, it was such a pleasure having you on today and I look forward to speaking with you real soon.

Julie Hruska: Thank you so much for having me, Brian. Thank you everyone for listening.

Brian Thomas: Bye for now.
