Mike Francis is the Co-Founder and CEO of NanoTech Materials, Inc.
Mike Francis is a four-time founder and currently serves as the CEO of NanoTech Materials, Inc. At NanoTech, he leads efforts in developing innovative materials breakthroughs that reduce energy consumption, lower CO2 emissions in buildings, and enhance fireproofing critical infrastructure in fire-prone states. With a diverse background spanning multiple Fortune 500 companies, Mike has built and led teams across various functions, including product development, commercialization, marketing, operations, and P&L responsibility for organizations with over 1,000 employees.
After a successful corporate career where he honed his skills as an intrapreneur, Mike embarked on his entrepreneurial journey. He has successfully raised millions of dollars across several ventures and achieved multiple exits with the startups he has founded. His entrepreneurial portfolio showcases a diverse set of companies he started, ranging from professor-led management consulting, SaaS (Software as a Service), material science and chemistry, and even craft beer delivery.
Mike co-founded NanoTech with his partners, starting in a two-car garage with self-funding. Under his leadership and a fantastic team, the company has experienced significant growth, now capable of producing over 100 million square feet of its technology in a 43,000-square-foot ISO 9001-certified facility. A firm believer that great technology requires great teams, Mike is equally passionate about scaling people as he is about scaling technology. He views entrepreneurship as a team sport and is dedicated to giving back to the thriving startup ecosystem in Houston, where he resides. Mike sits on several University boards and frequently speaks and works with students at his two alma maters—Texas A&M University and Rice University—to inspire and mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs..
