Justin and Travis Maderia are fourth-generation lobstermen and the co-founders of Lobsterboys, a seafood company working to transform how lobster gets from the ocean to the consumer. Raised in Connecticut and growing up working the waters of Long Island Sound, the brothers saw firsthand the decline of their family’s fishery and the challenges facing independent fishermen.
They founded Lobsterboys in 2016 with a mission to build a more sustainable, transparent and equitable seafood supply chain. By working directly with licensed commercial lobstermen and eliminating layers of middlemen, Lobsterboys focuses on fair compensation for fishermen, full traceability and responsibly harvested, premium hard-shell lobster.
Today, Justin and Travis are outspoken advocates for protecting working fishermen and the long-term health of the lobster industry. Through Lobsterboys, they are combining a four-generation family legacy with a modern direct-to-consumer model designed to reconnect people with where their seafood comes from – and the fishermen responsible for bringing it to their tables.
