Chuck Kemper is the Chief Human Resources Officer for the American Bureau of Shipping. He previously served as Senior Vice President, HR for the $4 billion Asset Solutions Americas subsidiary of Wood where he worked for 6 years. Before joining Wood, he served in roles as Group Director, Talent Management & Development and Vice President of HR, US and Latin America during a 7-year tenure WorleyParsons. Prior to that he worked 14 years for Aker Kvaerner with his last role being Vice President of HR for the global Oil, Gas, Process & Energy division.
Chuck Kemper is a business leader who specializes in HR and counsel to executive leadership teams. He is experienced in creating and executing HR/People strategies for efficiency, competitiveness, employment & labor risk management, HRIS/ERP, leadership development, large scale merger, acquisition (M&A) & integration, talent management, change management and compliance in organizations delivering technical professional services such as maritime certification, engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and industrial consulting.
Mr. Kemper has led design and implementation of programs for multi-billion dollar businesses across learning & development, organizational development, organizational design, talent development, employee engagement, recruiting/talent acquisition, compensation and benefits/total rewards, governance, international mobility/expatriation, shared services and HRIS.
Mr. Kemper has managed budgets over US$100 million with consistent underruns and led international HR teams of up to 170 for union and non-union populations of up to 17,500 based in over 60 countries.
Mr. Kemper holds a BS in structural engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Xavier University.
Some of Mr. Kemper ‘s industry and volunteer roles have included the Board of Directors of HR Houston, counselor for Operation Jobs, St. Xavier Alumni Board of Directors, and various church leadership roles in finance, personnel, and children’s and adult education. He lives in Houston, Texas with his wife Daphne and their children.
