Christine’s Podcast!

Christine Iway Nedeau, MD is a board-certified family physician with nearly 20 years of experience in providing primary care to all age groups. She is the founder and owner of Bloom Integrative Health, an innovative boutique medical practice that focuses on the prevention of disease. by helping people understand their personal risks for disease and how to change lifestyle, nutrition, and other habits with traditional and non-traditional therapies using a team-based model of care.

Dr. Nedeau was born in the Philippines then immigrated with her family to the US as a toddler, then eventually to rural Elkhart, Kansas. Her parents and sibling are also physicians, so it was natural to enter the family business of medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in biology & psychology from Baylor University then attended Creighton Graduate School to study genetics and immunology. Dr. Nedeau graduated from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in Cebu City, Philippines, the same medical school her parents both attended, then completed Family Medicine Residency in Phoenix, AZ before settling in Liberty, Missouri, blocks away from her older sister who is also a physician.

After 9 years of traditional family medicine, Dr. Nedeau switched gears and joined one of the largest, global, healthcare IT company in the world. She cared for the company’s employees and their families in a unique, fast-paced, work-site health clinic that focused on prevention of disease. Here, she spearheaded the team-care model (patient-centered medical home) that guided and supported patients through their health journey and collaborated with a team of complementary health care providers: registered dietician, wellness coach, chiropractor, social worker, maternity navigator, pharmacist, fitness specialist, and athletic trainer. Dr. Nedeau worked passionately with the technology and user-experience teams to improve the ambulatory physicians’ workflows while eliminating inefficiencies.

In April 2020, Dr. Nedeau left the corporate world, bringing 9+ years of experience in healthcare IT, research/development/design, quality improvement, and virtual health into her solo practice, Bloom Integrative Health. Dr. Nedeau is currently completing advanced training and certification in Anti-Aging Medicine and will offer expanded services in the areas of lifelong health and longevity.

In her personal life, Dr. Nedeau is married and has a busy family life. She enjoys cooking for family, travelling, her dogs and art. She is an avid journal-keeper and started a personal blog called TeenieMD to document life as a Filipino doctor mom. She authored and illustrated a children’s book, Bravo! Bravo! A Bashful Ballerina’s Tale About First Recital & the Scary Stage, based on her daughter’s experience with anxiety, and contributed her writings to several online publications, including KevinMD. Dr. Nedeau was featured in Kansas City Medical Journal, the cover of 2016 Cerner’s Annual Report, and she was a keynote speaker at Cerner’s DevCon and World Usability Day conferences in 2018. Her family was featured in a PBS Broadcast 4-part series called Your Fellow American that explored her family’s immigrant experience and The American Dream. Dr. Nedeau has been involved in medical philanthropy throughout her career leading mission trips to the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan, seeing patients in local Kansas City free clinics, and serves on the Liberty Youth Ballet Company board. She is a preceptor to students in all levels of education in hopes of inspiring the next generation of primary care physicians and providers to join her in supporting good health.
