Matthew Stewart is the founder of TalentSprout, an AI recruiter that automates first-round interviews for companies hiring at volume. Built on conversational voice AI, the platform runs natural, human-sounding screening interviews 24/7 in more than 50 languages, then scores and ranks candidates across communication, domain expertise, problem solving, cultural fit, and professionalism — turning what used to be weeks of phone screens into a same-day shortlist.
Matthew started TalentSprout after watching recruiters and staffing teams burn their days on repetitive screening calls that rarely produced a signal worth the time. His bet was simple: the first-round interview is the right place for AI, because it is structured, predictable, and sits between every candidate and a real hiring decision. The early results have validated the thesis — one high-volume BPO used TalentSprout to screen 200 candidates in seven days and forward its top 40 to clients, replacing roughly 50 hours of manual recruiting each month.
A senior software engineer and technical founder with more than a decade of experience shipping scalable web and mobile platforms, Matthew also works as a fractional CTO for early-stage teams. He ships product weekly, talks to customers daily, and runs TalentSprout out of Toronto.
On The Digital Executive podcast, Matthew Stewart unpacks what it takes to build a trustworthy AI recruiter, how voice AI is quietly reshaping staffing and BPO workflows, and the lessons of shipping an AI product in a regulated, people-first industry.
