Rajdeep Biswas (Raj) is a visionary technology executive with two decades of experience in transforming industrial operations through cutting-edge AI, data analytics, and IoT solutions. As the Global Vice President of Industry Solutions at Neudesic, an IBM Company, Rajdeep has spearheaded digital transformation initiatives that drive efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in the manufacturing sector. His leadership in developing platforms such as SmartMaint IQ, a predictive maintenance solution integrating IIoT and AI, has empowered companies to monitor machine health in real-time, reduce downtime, and optimize resource usage.
Raj’s work has had a profound impact on helping industries transition to smarter factories. Raj, can you start off by telling us about yourself and why you chose technology as a career?
I’ve always had a deep fascination with how technology can drive change and create meaningful impact. This passion led me to pursue a career in engineering and data science, where I’ve had the privilege of working across a variety of industries and roles, each shaping my perspective on technology’s power to solve complex challenges.
My career began at Apple through a consulting engagement with Infosys, where I had the opportunity to work on several innovative projects, gaining insights into how cutting-edge technology can enhance user experience and drive business outcomes.
Later, I joined Hortonworks, diving in the world of big data and open-source platforms, helping organizations harness data at scale to drive insights.
I then moved to Microsoft, a turning point in my career, where I focused on leveraging cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and IoT solutions to transform industries. Microsoft provided me with a platform to work on cloud scale intelligent enterprise solutions and collaborate with organizations across manufacturing, oil and gas, and supply chain sectors.
Currently, as the Global Vice President of Industry Solutions at Neudesic, an IBM Company, I lead efforts to bring digital transformation to core industries through Analytics and AI-driven platforms. These roles have allowed me to grow into a technology leader with a focus on industrial innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency. From transforming manufacturing with predictive maintenance to optimizing data strategies in financial services, every step in my career has reinforced my belief that technology is the catalyst for sustainable business growth and innovation.
Can you tell us what drives you to be successful as a technology executive?
Every day the impact of our work motivates me. Seeing the transformation that AI, IoT, and data analytics bring to core industries is truly rewarding. Whether it’s reducing unplanned downtime for a manufacturer or lowering carbon emissions through predictive maintenance, knowing that I’m driving change at both a business and environmental level pushes me to excel. I’m also passionate about developing future leaders and fostering innovation within my teams.
Tell us about your vision of your company in the next 2-3 years.
Neudesic’s vision is to become a market leader in enabling smart factories through advanced digital solutions. Over the next few years, we plan to expand platforms like SmartMaint IQ to deliver predictive and autonomous maintenance solutions on a scale. We are focused on integrating generative AI capabilities into our tools, allowing seamless human-machine collaboration, enhanced operational efficiency, and sustainability. As more industries adopt data-driven models, we aim to play a pivotal role in transforming how businesses operate.
At Neudesic, we’re focused on staying ahead of emerging trends and ensuring that our clients benefit from the latest innovations in industrial IoT, AI, and supply chain technologies. By continuously exploring new partnerships and scaling complex solutions, Neudesic is ready to be a leader in digital transformation for the industries we serve. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey, and I’m thrilled to be driving these initiatives forward.
What’s the one or two accomplishments that you’re proud of?
I am very happy with the repeated success in the implementation of AI-powered predictive maintenance solutions. These models have allowed clients in oil and gas and manufacturing sectors to anticipate equipment failures, thereby reducing downtime and cutting maintenance costs. This initiative has directly boosted operational efficiency for companies across North America, Europe, and Asia.
In addition to these hands-on initiatives, I’ve been honored to receive recognition for my contributions to the field. In 2023, I was named 8X LinkedIn Top Voice in Data and AI.
I also serve as a Gartner Global Data & Analytics Ambassador, contributing to global discussions that shape the future of data-driven decision-making. My position on the Board of Advisors at Houston Community College allows me to equip the next generation of professionals with AI-driven skills, ensuring they are prepared to thrive in an increasingly digital future.
What advice do you have for other up-and-coming engineers or entrepreneurs?
Stay curious and embrace continuous learning. The technology landscape evolves rapidly, so it’s essential to stay on top of trends and adapt. Also, focusing on solving real-world problems—technological innovation should have a meaningful purpose. Lastly, collaboration is key. Surround yourself with people who challenge your ideas, and never hesitate to mentor others.

Yes, I am most active on LinkedIn professionally. It’s the ideal platform for connecting with thought leaders, industry experts, and technology enthusiasts.
Through LinkedIn, I actively share updates about key projects, industry solutions, and events, as well as collaborations with partners like Microsoft, Databricks, and other tech leaders. The platform also provides a great space to mentor, learn, and network, which aligns with my passion for fostering innovation and building connections in the industrial solutions space.
Who was your biggest influence?
My biggest influence is Steve Jobs. His relentless pursuit of excellence, focus on user-centric design, and ability to merge creativity with technology have profoundly shaped my approach to leadership. Jobs demonstrated how technology, when applied thoughtfully, can solve complex challenges and create meaningful change. His emphasis on innovation, simplicity, and challenging the status quo continues to inspire me in my work—whether it’s transforming industrial operations or developing solutions like SmartMaint IQ. I admire how he envisioned technology not just as a tool, but as a way to reshape entire industries, a principle I strive to apply in my efforts to drive smarter, more sustainable manufacturing solutions.
What is the most challenging part of your work as a Tech Executive?
The biggest challenge lies in balancing innovation with operational efficiency and the horizon of the return on investments for us and our customers. Implementing new technologies requires overcoming resistance to change and aligning stakeholders toward a shared vision. Additionally, keeping up with talent shortages in specialized fields like AI and IoT adds complexity to building high-performing teams.
What do you have your sights set on next?
Looking ahead, I’m excited about expanding our solutions portfolio and advancing our capabilities through strategic partnerships and large-scale implementations. One of the key initiatives on the horizon is forging partnerships with leading sensor manufacturers. These collaborations will enable us to further enhance the predictive maintenance and real-time monitoring capabilities of platforms like SmartMaint IQ by integrating state-of-the-art IoT sensors.
In addition, we are focusing on deploying large-scale digital transformation initiatives, including building a Supply Chain Control Tower on a global scale. This ambitious project will empower enterprises to gain 360-degree visibility into their supply chains, optimizing everything from demand forecasting to logistics management. Leveraging AI, data analytics, and IoT, this solution will allow organizations to react proactively to disruption, improve inventory management, and increase resilience.
My goal is to extend the use of predictive and prescriptive analytics to all facets of industrial operations. This vision includes integrating advanced AI-driven automation across the supply chain and expanding digital twin technologies, making operations smarter, leaner, and more responsive. These efforts are not just about operational efficiency, they also align with our commitment to sustainability by reducing waste, optimizing energy consumption, and enhancing the lifespan of equipment.
What is a day in your life like?
A typical day for me is a dynamic blend of strategic leadership, collaboration, and innovation. I usually start with early meetings with international teams, followed by strategy discussions on product innovation.
I then focus on thought leadership activities, whether it’s contributing to industry panels, writing articles, or engaging on platforms like LinkedIn to share insights on industrial digitalization, AI, and IoT.
A large part of my day revolves around collaboration with strategic partners, such as Microsoft, Databricks, and other technology leaders. We work closely on co-innovation strategies and joint solutions that align with market needs. This includes exploring new technologies, expanding existing platforms, and aligning our roadmaps to deliver industry-first solutions.
Another key focus of my day involves interacting with customer key stakeholders and decision-makers from both IT and business domains. Whether it’s reviewing digital transformation roadmaps, understanding customer pain points, or conducting strategy workshops, I ensure that the solutions we build align perfectly with their objectives. These engagements are crucial because they help us bridge the gap between business needs and technology capabilities, creating solutions that deliver real impact.
I also dedicate time to fueling innovation within the engineering teams at Neudesic. My role involves mentoring teams, driving product vision, and ensuring that we’re building the most cutting-edge industry solutions, like SmartMaint IQ. I believe in fostering an environment where creativity thrives, and I enjoy rolling up my sleeves and working alongside engineers, architects, and product managers to refine ideas, validate technologies, and accelerate delivery.
Every day brings new opportunities to explore, collaborate, and create value—whether that’s working on a large-scale implementation project or cultivating partnerships that fuel future innovations. It’s this dynamic nature of my role, combining leadership, partnership, and innovation, that makes each day exciting and impactful.
Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy driving sports cars, which helps me unwind. I also love taking long walks on the beach with my family, it’s my way of staying grounded. Additionally, I’m passionate about reading and staying up to date with emerging technologies.
What makes you smile?
Seeing the success of my team and clients always brings a smile to my face. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching innovative solutions we develop drive meaningful outcomes for our clients and witnessing the growth of my team as they excel in their roles. These moments affirm the value of our collective efforts and motivate me to push further.
Outside of work, spending quality time with my family is something I cherish deeply. Watching my 11-year-old son explore his passions and interests fill me with joy and pride—seeing the world through his curious eyes keeps me grounded. Another constant source of happiness is my 2-year-old Maltipoo, who never fails to lift my spirits even on the busiest and most challenging days. Whether it’s his playful antics or just having him by my side, he’s a reminder to stay light-hearted no matter what.
What are you never without?
I always carry my notebook and phone. My notebook helps me capture ideas on the go, and my phone ensures I always stay connected with my teams and clients globally.
What scares you?
I’d say I fear becoming complacent. In the rapidly evolving tech industry, staying relevant requires constant learning and innovation. I’m always mindful of pushing myself and my team to think ahead and embrace change.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is sailing on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas. There’s something truly rejuvenating about being out on the water, surrounded by the scenic beauty and tranquility of the lake. The blend of sailing, relaxation, and nature offers the perfect escape from the fast-paced world of technology. Whether it’s enjoying the breathtaking sunsets, taking in the calm breeze, or just unwinding with friends and family, Lake Travis always leaves me feeling recharged and inspired.
